  4. What's new in this version ?
  5. + Up to now, the recorded time for each program was corresponding to the CPU time consumed for each program.
  6.  
  7. + From a technical point of view, this was accurate, but was not always judicious to get a real idea of what time you spend in real working with each program. In fact, up to now, if your Mac was running 2 hours, with two programs (ie the Finder + another one), the 2 hours were shared between these two programs. If you had a powerfull Macintosh, in fact a great part of the CPU time was consumed by the Finder, because only a small part of the CPU was necessary to run the front most application.

  9. + Starting with this version of Spyßg you will have the choice between 2 methods of recording :
  10.     * The old one : recording the CPU time consumed by each program
  11.     * The new one : recording the time a program is frontmost
  12.  
  13. + By default the new Spyßg will use the new method, and will create a new JobLog file named 'Joblog (Front Time Record)'.

  15. + All this may be changed by yourself, using this great tool named RESEDIT (A future release will permit you to setup this more user friendly !).

  17. To change Spyßg setup, follow these instructions :
  18. If the new Spyßg is already active, please restart your Macintosh before trying the following instructions.
  19. 1/ Launch RESEDIT and open the new Spyßg extension

  21. 2/ Open the 'Cfig' resource as shown on the picture below :

  46. 4/ Choose the recording method by selecting 'True' for either 'CPUTime' (old method) or 'FrontTime' (new method)
  47. + Please don't choose both methods, because unpredictable results may occur with Spyßg.
  48. + The 'PresenceTime' method is not yet implemented. This method will take in account the total time each program will be present in memory, formerly will be equal to Quit Time - Launch Time.
  49. + The draw-back of the 'Front Time' method is the fact that no time will be recorded for the background only applications .
